Prof. Of ICT, IUO VC Urge Students To Apply Digital Technologies On Entrepreneurial

An ICT expert and a Prof. of Information Technology and Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Oladunni Daramola has urged students of Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), to explore and leverage on the skills of digital technologies in order for them to excel in the industry.
Prof. Oladunni Daramola made the assertions at Sir (Dr.) David Osunde Centre for Entrepreneurial and Skills Acquisition at the opening ceremony Entrepreneurial skills acquisition and Employability Training for students in Okada, Benin city, said digital technology consists of the use of technological devices in Entrepreneurial business.
Speaking on a topic:" Leveraging Digital Technologies to Realise your Entrepreneurial Dream," she asserted that this time where there is shortage of jobs in the society that they should start leveraging on digital devices, such as I Pad, internet, Facebook , Twitter , whatsapp and other social media platforms to create marketing business is the society.
Prof. Daramola said," digital technology is to achieve something new for the betterment of the society. It talks about production and services, and improving on it to get it started which lead to innovation.
" According to Oxford University dictionary defined digital technology is the aspect to use something new to our maximum advantage. It talks about your dream, which means your vision, need, desire and your final goal.
" Talking about entrepreneurship and looking at our country today. This is the time for enentrepreneurial to seize the opportunity of creating jobs for themselves. It is time for them to take the front row of providing jobs for themselves, especially now that they are in school studying .
" Looking at the economy situation of Nigeria are you satisfy? You cannot go home and sleep. You must start to create new products, services, skills in order for you to solve societal problems. If all your needs cannot be meant, and with the situation of things in Nigeria. Then, this is the right time.
" Not every graduate will get job if they finish university. So that is the reason you need to do something. entrepreneurship creates employment opportunities and encourage economic growth. It creates jobs and reduced poverty ." She stated
Advising the students to take good merits of
entrepreneurship, the Vice-Chancellor of the Igbinedion University, IUO, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, urged them to leverage and utilize the entrepreneurial digital skills to enable them create more jobs in the society.
Prof. Ezemonye explained that so far, a total of 19 programmes of the entrepreneurial skills acquisitions are available at present in the Centre.
He said," Igbinedion University engages all its 300 level students across the Colleges on Entrepreneurial Studies, having gone through the foundational course: EPS 211 at 200 level. It is the practical and final phase of their training in Entrepreneurship.
"The training is packaged and deliberately articulated towards psychologically preparing our students to become future-ready aduates through gainful engagements after life in the Ivory tower,
"The 21% century comes with many challenges. Disruptive technology and communications are some of the most advanced developments in the century. To cope with these advancements, mastering entrepreneurial skills has become a necessity. Furthermore, entrepreneurship is important for the overall economic growth of a country. It generates wealth and develops the community as a whole.
"At the individual level, entrepreneurship provides opportunity for networking among students from diverse backgrounds, colleges and departments, developing problem-solving, innovative and creative skills which are the keys to the future.
" Others benefits include building setf-confidence and leadership qualities, etc. These, amongst others, are what these students are going to be exposed to in the next 4 months, working in synergy and groups."
Given her opening remarks, the Host and Director, IUO CESA, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Josiah said, IUO aimed is to equip the students irrespective of their discipline that led to this practical aspect of entrepreneurship.
She disclosed that the course is the one where students are involved in practical training and skills acquisition.
