...Says He Was Duly Elected As Chairman

Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin

The Chairman Edo State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Odion Olaye, has  asserted that, the Edo state Council has no parallel leadership as he remains the duly elected chairman recognized by the the national leadership of the NLC.

Comrade Olaye, made the statement when speaking to journalists in Benin city, following the alleged interference in the activities of the NLC Edo State branch.

He posited ,“There is no dispute in Edo NLC, neither is there room for acting Chairman. Only one or two imposters tried to cause crisis in Edo NLC, but the National Executive Council (NEC) at a meeting in Owerri reached a decision and sanctioned all of them.

” I , Comrade Odion Olaye, remains the duly elected and authentic Chairman of NLC, Edo State Council. “Olaye said.

Comrade Olaye said the Edo State Council of the NLC is one under his leadership and dismissed any form of dispute in the state .

He said those fermenting trouble were imposters who came into the NLC from the back door, and have since been suspended for anti-union activities.

The Edo NLC boss condemned efforts by some unionists including one Comrade Bernard Joman to hijack the union, Olaye said that the Edo State Council of the NLC ably led by himself as its state chairman has referred the matter to the national leadership, and that they have since intervened by sanctioning all those involved.

He debunked the rumour in some quarters that he has been deposed by the State Union of NURTW, which he noted was a subject of litigation.

Odion Olaye added that he remained the chairman of the union till 2027 and that he reserves the right to seek re-election.
