‎2025 Bayelsa Preseason: BENDEL INSURANCE FC BEAT HOSTS BAYELSA UTD    2-0
‎Bendel Insurance football club on Sunday began the 2025 Bayelsa Preseason Football Tournament on a positive note, following their emphatic 2-0 victory over the host team Bayelsa Utd.
‎New signings Isaac Omijie and Victor Peter scored two beautiful goals in the second half of the game to seal victory for the new look Insurance FC
‎The first half of the grade A preseason match had ended in a goalless situation as both sides sized up each other without any goals for their impressive performances.
‎Isaac Omijie broke the deadluck in the 47th minute shortly after the resumption of the second stanza of the game when he brilliantly directed Israel Emmanuel's  fine cross from the left flank.
‎As coach Greg Ikhenoba introduced more experienced players, including Kayode, Stanley Okorom, Julius Emiloju Nnamdi Anthony and Tobi Iyanda, Insurance became more dangerous as they mounted more pressure on the host . Their efforts paid off in the 86th minute of the game when substitute Victor Peter's free kick from 25 yards braced through the wall of Bayelsa Utd defense  to secure the comfortable 2-0 victory for the Benin Arsenals.
‎Goalkeeper Bamidele Adeniyi had produced a remarkable save as he stopped a penalty kick awarded to Bayelsa Utd in the 77th minute to keep
‎Insurance in control of the game before the second goal by Victor Peter.
‎In the midfield, stand-in captain Osayande Austin has proven to be the missing key Insurance FC have been looking for. He ensured composure and swift passes and ball possession which made the host uncomfortable.
‎The Benin Arsenals will be hosts to new premier League entrants Kun Khalifat in Tuesday's schedules. Kickoff time is 3pm at the same Samson Siasia stadium in Yenagoa.
‎In the post match interview, the Head Coach of Bendel Insurance FC Greg Ikhenoba said he was happy with not just only the result but his new players ability to raise their game and as well playing to his instructions.
‎He thanked Insurance management for making it possible for his team to participate in the Bayelsa Preseason Tournament.
‎According to him," tournament like this is important for a newly assembled team like ours. We are in Bayelsa to take advantage of the opportunity to fine-tune our team and I am happy we started well but we are still work in progress. Winning first match is not enough to conclude that we are done."  He emphasized.
‎On the other hand, Bayelsa Utd Head Coach Meremu Okara praised both sides but admitted that the grade A match with Insurance FC has exposed the weakness of his side.
‎" We have been playing and beating our opponents in our preseason friendlies but today is different. We thought that we were done and ready for the new season but now we have to go back to the drawing board." He said.
