‎NYGs 2925: Team Edo Maintains Impressive Run 

...As Gymnastics, Swimming,Weightlifting Make Increase In Gold

‎Ast the 9th National Youth Games enters day three of competition,Team Edo has continued to maintain its impressive outing, with  outstanding performances across various sports including Gymnastics, Weightlifting and Karate.
‎Team Edo began with harvest of three Gold medals in Weightlifting through Favour Cornelius on the first day of action. The Weightlifting association once again proved to be a stronghold for medal harvest as Beauty Akpore extended Edo’s dominance, carting home three gold in the 53kg snatch and 80kg clean and jerk in the female category ahead of athletes from Lagos (silver) and Plateau (bronze)..
‎Weightlifting alone has so far contributed 9 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals to Team Edo’s medal haul.
‎The pride of Edo State in gymnastics remains intact, as it was medal rush for Edo athletes in the game they are known for, clinching 5 gold and 2 silver on day three with Wisdom Ikede alone being decorated with three individual gold medals, just as  Aliu Solomon and Ocheke Excel added one gold and one silver each to increase the medal haul.
‎The Swimming Association also registered their names in  Gold  as Tissa Precious proved to be consistent in winning gold in every tournament. He clinched Gold in the 50m male freestyle. Team Edo’s 4x100m relay team afterwards added a silver medal to the haul.
‎The Rugby teams also made an  impressive outing with dominant displays as the state whitewashed Ogun 17-0 and Abia 5-0 to reach the semi-finals in the female category of the energy saping game. In the male category, Edo demolished Abia 31-0 but narrowly lost 0-5 to Delta and still qualified for the semi-finals after a thrilling encounter.
‎In ball games,Edo Beach Volleyball team came to the party with enterprising stars as the female team defeated Niger 2-0, while the male team similarly overpowered Oyo by the same 2-0 goals margin with both sides advancing to the next stage.
‎Edo bagged bronze in traditional game - Ayo doubles (male) competition, finishing behind Delta (gold) and Lagos (silver). The female doubles team, unfortunately exited at the quarterfinals after a 0-2 loss to Oyo. 
‎In Para Table Tennis, Ivie Peculiar Edogiawerie and Quadri Adekunle Mustapha won bronze in the mixed doubles event.
‎Team Edo at the end of events on day three has been able to secure 17 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals – a total of 27 medals.
