... Extols Super Six Qualification

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has commended Edo Queens Football Club for their outstanding performance following a convincing 2-0 victory over Naija Ratels FC of Abuja in Matchday 15 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, shortly after the encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Enabulele described the team’s qualification for the Super Six as a testament to their resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

“I am highly impressed with the performance of Edo Queens. This victory and qualification for the Super Six reflect the hard work, determination, and team spirit that define this great squad,” he said.

Enabulele specifically praised the goal scorers, Inyang Esther and Doosuur Atume, for their clinical finishing, noting that their efforts were crucial in securing the vital three points.

“I commend Esther for her composure in opening the scoring and Atume for sealing the victory in style. Their performances, alongside the collective effort of the team, were truly commendable,” he added.

The Sports Commission boss also lauded Head Coach Moses Aduku and his technical crew for maintaining consistency despite challenges, including the absence of key players on national assignment.

“To achieve this level of performance even after losing several players to the national team speaks volumes about the depth, quality, and preparedness of this squad. The coaching crew deserves immense credit for keeping the team focused and competitive,” Enabulele noted.

He further applauded the players for their dominance throughout the season, particularly their impressive home record and ability to secure crucial away victories.

“As a Commission, we are proud of what Edo Queens have accomplished so far. You have continued to make Edo State proud and inspire young athletes across the state,” he said.

Enabulele urged the team to remain focused as they prepare for the Super Six, emphasizing the need to maintain momentum and strive for ultimate success.

“Qualifying for the Super Six is a major milestone, but the journey is not over. I encourage the team to stay determined and aim for the title,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the Edo State Government’s continued support for sports development and assured Edo Queens of the Commission’s unwavering backing as they push for greater achievements.

With the victory, Edo Queens have now amassed 31 points from 14 matches and will next travel to Ibadan, Oyo State, where they will face Pacesetters FC in what will be their final away fixture of the season.

The team will then return home to conclude the regular league campaign with two fixtures against Ibom Angels and Rivers Angels.
