Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State Command, have uncovered and dismantled a major illicit warehouse located in Igbanke community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
Speaking on the vitality of the operation, the Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, emphasised that the raid is a critical victory in the ongoing war against substance abuse and illicit drug trade.
He asserted,“This successful operation is a testament to our relentless pursuit of drug cartels and our strategic focus on supply suppression.
" The seizure of 1,378 kilograms of cannabis in one single operation unequivocally represents a significant dent in the distribution network of these harmful substances.
"The importance of intercepting such a large quantity is better appreciated against the backdrop that it cuts off drug supply from reaching our streets, our schools, and our communities, thereby saving countless young people from the devastating scourge of addiction."
The Commander of Narcotics also stated that drug supply suppression remains a cornerstone of the NDLEA’s strategy, noting that every kilogram seized weakens trafficking syndicates and makes our society safer.
Commander Ofoyeju commended the professionalism and diligence of his officers for the outstanding performance of the Edo State Command and urged the public to continue supporting the agency by providing useful information.
Also, one suspected member of the drug cartel, 37-year-old Roland Owie, was arrested, and a consignment of 125 bags of dried weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa, weighing 1,378 kilograms, was confiscated during the raid.
