A former member of the House of Representatives, Abdul Oroh, has called for immediate establishment of state police as a way to tackle insecurity at the local level.

He also called for stronger institutions, job creation through agriculture and commerce, and better utilisation of natural resources to curb youth restiveness.

Oroh made the call on Monday at Ivbiaro, Owan East LGA of Edo State, where he declared his intention to return to the National Assembly in next year’s national assembly election.

The human rights activist who represented Owan Federal Constituency between 2003 and 2007, expressed concerns over poor electricity supply and lack of basic infrastructure in the constituency.

Oroh, who served as commissioner under the administration of Adams Oshiomhole, said his decision to run again was driven by a desire to address pressing challenges facing the constituency, including insecurity, economic hardship, and infrastructural deficits.

He promised that if elected, he would advocate protection of human rights, free primary healthcare for mothers and children, social welfare for the elderly, and free and compulsory basic and secondary education.

Oroh, who served as commissioner under the administration of Adams Oshiomhole, said his decision to run again was driven by a desire to address pressing challenges facing the constituency, including insecurity, economic hardship, and infrastructural deficits.

He promised to push for the creation of more Local Government Development Councils and greater financial autonomy for local governments.

The aspirant who was endorsed by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 22 wards in the constituency and various groups, pledged to align with the Renewed Hope agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in efforts to improve security and strengthen governance.

He expressed willingness to collaborate with both federal and state authorities, including the administration of Monday Okpebholo, as well as the private sector and international partners.

Oroh called on party members and constituents to support his ambition, assuring them that he would build on his previous experience and work to deliver more impactful representation if elected.
