Bob Marley Night: Edo NUJ Honours ECTS MD, Ehimuan With Excellence Award

The Managing Director of Edo City Transport Services (ECTS), Barrister Festus Ehimuan, has been honoured with an Excellence Award in recognition of his impactful contributions to the government transport sector.
The award was presented by the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) during a music extravaganza organized to commemorate the life and legacy of reggae legend Bob Marley.
Speaking after receiving the award, Barr. Ehimuan dedicated the honour to the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for providing him the platform to contribute meaningfully to the state’s transport sector.
He described the Governor’s “SHINE Agenda” as transformative, noting that it continues to improve various sectors and make life more affordable for Edo residents. He also dedicated the award to his management team, commending their support in ensuring smooth and effective administration.
Barr. Ehimuan further disclosed that ECTS is set to introduce a digital payment system to replace cash transactions, a move aimed at eliminating revenue leakages and enhancing operational efficiency. He urged Edo residents to embrace the initiative, emphasizing its long-term benefits.
Barr. Festus Ehimuan is widely regarded as a visionary leader whose career reflects excellence, integrity, and service.
He was born on December 23, 1967, in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, he has built an impressive academic and professional profile, including qualifications in accountancy, business administration, and law (ND, HND, MBA, LL.B, BL, LL.M).
During his tenure as Deputy Bursar at Ambrose Alli University, he contributed to academic discourse through several scholarly works on financial management, banking systems, employment law, and legal enforcement frameworks.
He also served meritoriously as Deputy Bursar and Head of Accounts at the College of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University.
Currently, as Managing Director of ECTS, Barr. Ehimuan is driving innovation and repositioning the agency into a model public transport system in Nigeria.
His contributions have earned him numerous recognitions, including awards from the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, Esan Forum, and other reputable organizations.
In his remarks, the Edo State Chairman of the NUJ, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to celebrating the enduring legacy of Bob Marley, whose music and message continue to inspire people globally.
He encouraged future NUJ leadership to sustain and build upon existing initiatives while urging journalists to uphold professionalism by ensuring balanced reporting and avoiding yellow journalism.
Dr. Alenkhe also assured that his administration remains committed to protecting journalists from harassment and promoting ethical standards within the profession.
The event featured vibrant musical performances by the Edo NUJ Entertainment Team and live band, as members entertained guests with classic reggae renditions in honour of Bob Marley.
The atmosphere was lively, with journalists and guests celebrating through music and dance.
Those present at the occasion are; the Chairman of Bob-Izua Conglomerate, Chief Adun, Chief Press Secretary to Edo State government, Dr. Patrick Ebojele amongst others.
