NPFL 2026:  Bendel Insurance FC Suffer  2-1 Defeat In Enugu
‎Bendel Insurance Football Club, today suffered a 2-1 defeat in hands of Arch rivals Rangers International of Enugu in the match day 37 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
‎The 2-1 defeat at the Cathedral means a huge setback for the Benin Arsenals' push for third place finish as the hope is already dashed this season.
‎Godwin Obaje struck for the Flying Antelopes 15 minutes into the game but Bendel Insurance FC remained unruffled and continued with their impressive performance and were rewarded with a goal by their youngest striker Alex Oweifaleya in 41st minute.
‎Alex Oweifaleya now have 10 goals to his credit in his first season in the premier league. In the match day 36 between Bendel Insurance and Katsina Utd,Alex scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute with a classy header and sealed victory for the Benin Arsenals. 
‎As the second half resumed at the Cathedral,Bendel Insurance FC continued with their impressive outing  and looked destined to take something home from Enugu until the controversial spot kick was awarded to the host which Godwin Obaje converted in the 66th minute of the game to get a brace and sealed victory for the title contenders.
‎Recall that Bendel Insurance  were forced to 1-1 draw by Rangers International in their first round meeting in Benin.
‎The Benin Arsenals now pushed 6th position on the table with 55 points and will be at home against Remo Stars in the last fixtures of the season .
