The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of ITV/Radio staff member and Government House Correspondent, Mr Kingsley Uchegbu.

In a condolence message addressed to the management of ITV/Radio in Benin City on Thursday, the union described the late journalist as a dedicated media professional whose commitment to duty and active participation in union activities earned him the admiration of colleagues within and outside the journalism profession.

The condolence message, jointly signed by the Chairman of the NUJ Edo State Council, Festus Alenkhe, and the Secretary, Andy Egbon, stated that the union received the news of Uchegbu’s death with “profound shock, deep sorrow, and heavy hearts.”

According to the union, Uchegbu was not only a committed staff member of ITV/Radio but also a visible and active member of the NUJ in Edo State, noted for his humility, passion for journalism and friendly disposition.

The union said his untimely death was a monumental loss to ITV/Radio, the journalism profession and the NUJ family, adding that his absence would be deeply felt by all who knew and worked with him.

“At moments like this, words are inadequate to express the grief and sadness in our hearts,” the statement read.
The NUJ condoled with the management and staff of ITV/Radio, as well as the deceased’s family, friends and loved ones, over what it described as a painful and devastating loss.

The union also prayed for the repose of his soul and for God to grant those he left behind the strength and courage to bear the loss.
