Police Arrest Officers Over Alleged Extortion In Edo  Iduozee Efe Paul  Six serving police officers, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police and two inspectors, have been arrested over alleged harassment, abduction and extortion by operatives of the Edo State Police Command. Those arrested are a dismissed police corporal, two commercial bus drivers and a POS operator. The suspects were apprehended following sustained surveillance, technical intelligence and coordinated operations by the command. In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the operation was prompted by several complaints from members of the public. Edo  NDLEA Intercepts 7,245Kg Of Cannabis, Arrests Five In Highway  Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin  The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has intercepted two articulated trucks laden with seven thousand, two hundred and forty-five kilograms of skunk cannabis and arrested five suspected drug traffickers. Speaking to journalists on the incident, the Edo State Commander of the agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the estimated street value of the drugs is seven hundred and twenty-four million, five hundred thousand naira. The Commander of Narcotics noted that the development marked the first time in the history of the command that two trucks laden with illicit drugs are being intercepted at a time. Ex-Edo Rep Member, Agbonayinma Dumps APC, Accuses Oshiomhole      Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin    A former member of the House of Representatives in Edo State, Hon Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, on Wednesday dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, citing undue interference from political leaders in the state, among others as his reasons. Announcing his resignation from the party at his Benin residence, Agbonayinma lamented the party had been hijacked by some individuals, who appropriated the party to themselves.
