Monday Lines 2 Opinion:The Rebellion In APC By Lasisi Olagunju  (Published in the Nigerian Tribune on Monday June 1, 2026). For no reason beyond bad belle, Orishala urged Ogun to pull down Orunmila's house. Why? Ogun asked. Orishala hinted that Orunmila had become a dangerous rival to his dominance in the pantheon of the gods. Like a hired killer, Ogun agreed. But how would he recognise Orunmila's house? He had never been there. Orishala gave detailed directions and added one crucial clue: Orunmila's house, unlike his own, had no white cloth on its roof. But Orunmila had ears everywhere. He heard the plot and acted swiftly. Under cover of darkness, he removed the white cloth from Orishala's roof and placed it on his own. So when Ogun arrived in fury, the house he smashed belonged to Orishala, his client. Ogun killed everyone inside and left Orunmila untouched. Then Orunmila danced and sang: Aseni n se ara è. From that day, Orunmila became the boss. A few wee...

Monday Lines 1 Opinion: An Epidemic Of Sorrow By Lasisi Olagunju  (Published in the Nigerian Tribune on Monday June 1, 2026). In Oyo State, a woman has four grandchildren and a daughter-in-law abducted from a school by terrorists. They are still in the bush; their abductors are unyielding. The woman with four grandchildren and a daughter-in-law in captivity was a ghostly sight to behold. Sobbing, she told Governor Seyi Makinde during his visit to her village on Saturday: “E nwo mi? As you are looking at me like this, I am naked; my four grandchildren and daughter-in-law who teaches at the school were taken away. Ramat Park Flyover And The Changing Face Of Benin City

Image
Ramat Park Flyover And The  Changing Face Of Benin City By Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele For close to half a century, the popular Ramat Park stood out as one of the most difficult traffic points in Benin City. It is a junction many residents know too well and complained about. Whether heading towards Auchi, Asaba or linking other parts of the state, motorists often found themselves stuck in long queues that stretched far beyond the intersection. What should have been a short drive routinely turned into a slow and frustrating passage. For the commercial drivers, it meant fewer trips in a day and higher fuel costs. For traders, it meant delayed movements to and from markets. For school children, office workers and business owners, it often meant leaving home earlier than necessary just to avoid the worst of the congestion. Over time, the situation became part of the city’s routine life. All that has since changed because barely one week after assuming office in November 2024...

DR. RAYMOND ANTHONY ALEOGHO DOKPESI, OFR — THE VOICE THAT REFUSED TO DIE By Editor  Today, and indeed every day, Nigeria remembers High Chief Dr. Raymond Anthony Aleogho Dokpesi, OFR — a man whose life was not merely lived, but poured out in service to nationhood, democracy, media freedom, and humanity. Some men pass through history. Others leave footprints upon it. Raymond Dokpesi carved his name into the soul of Nigeria. A polished maritime engineer with a doctorate degree and an uncommon brilliance of mind, Dokpesi first distinguished himself in the maritime sector, where his reforms and innovations transformed the industry and earned him admiration from both government and workers alike. Wherever he stood, excellence followed. Whatever he touched, progress answered. Yet destiny had prepared him for something greater. He left the maritime world and stepped into broadcasting — and there, he became a colossus. A giant. A light-bearer in an era overshadowed by fear, cen...
