 Court Sentences Five To Death By Hanging Over Lawyer’s Murder In Edo  Iduozee Paul, Benin  After six years of legal proceedings, the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City has delivered judgment in the murder and kidnapping case involving the late legal practitioner, Barrister Iyoha Osobase, with five defendants sentenced to death by hanging while one defendant was discharged and acquitted. Delivering judgment in Charge No. B/CD/136C/22, The State versus Valentine Dibie and Five Others, presiding Judge, Justice Efe Ikpomwonba, held that the prosecution successfully proved its case against five of the defendants beyond reasonable doubt. The duo were alleged to have made and received cash payments to the tune of $2,598,900 (Two million, Five hundred and Ninety Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred Dollars) which is an equivalent of about N3,638,460,000 (Three Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty Eight Million, Four Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira ) without going through a financial institution which is contrary to Section 2(1) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
