Enabulele Reiterates Government's support For Sports Development
...As He Declares Maiden Edo Chess League open
The Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Hon.Amadin Desmond Enabulele has reiterated Edo State government commitment's resolve to always support any programme and initiatives aimed at encouraging sports development in the state.
The Edo State Sports Commission boss who was represented by the Executive Director representing Edo South in the commission Hon Baldwin Bazuaye,MON stated this during the opening ceremony of the maiden edition of the Edo State School Chess League tournament.
He commended the organizers of the event and reassured the athletes that Edo State government will continue to play a major role in ensuring that sports in Edo State return to it's preme position in the country.
According to him, " I'm here representing the Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele.He sent his greetings and he is very happy with the organizers of this competition , noting that it is the first of it's kind in Edo State."
"Before I declare this competition open, I like to say a word or two to these young Chess players that have gathered here today. " This is a good thing. As up coming young Chess players, you must show deep interest in the game. Your love and interest is what drives you to greater heights in the game.
" Chess is an international game that can take you to places if you prove yourself."
"With the authority given to me by the Executive Chairman of Edo state Sports Commission, I here by declare this event open. I wish everyone good luck and I urge you all to show the spirit of sportsmanship during, and after the competition." Bazuaye declared.
Also speaking during the opening ceremony of the Edo Chess League,Mrs Sabina Chikere, Executive Director, Sports Development and Operations in the Commission also poured encomiums on the organizers for the laudable talent hunting sports initiatives of this magnitude.
"We are happy to be in your midst. We want to encourage you especially the 'Girl Child' because I can see a lot of junior school girls here, so we want to equally encourage you in as much as you want to do sports you should marry it together with education. Like I always say, the life span of a sports man or a sports woman always very short. So do the best you can in whatever field you have chosen."
"We in the sports commission are always there for you, we are ready to welcome you into our midst. We would encourage you and give you the best to ensure you succeed in the sports you have chosen." Mrs Chikere said.
Meanwhile, a good number of students from a total.of 18 schools in the state are participating in the tournament.
