UNIBEN VC, Prof.Salami Extols Edo NUJ For Transforming Journalism In Edo

The Vice Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Lilian Salami has extolled the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council for reforming journalism practice in the state.

Prof. Salami said the since the leadership of the NUJ Executive came into power that journalists in Edo state are now cross checking and balancing their stories before they publish.

She gave the admonition when the Executive Officers of the Union led by its Chairman , Comrade Festus Alenkhe paid her a courtesy visit in Benin City, Edo state, the UNIBEN Vice Chancellor said that the present Edo NUJ executive has brought professionalism to journalism.

Prof. Salami said the NUJ had been doing well in projecting the activities and doings that have to do with institution for many years.

According to her, since the administration came onboard, ethical consideration has been given priority attention. 

She lauded the union for supporting the University in the publicity of its activities, saying that the team spirit in the NUJ exco was eventful.

Stating the essence of the visit, the Chairman , Nigeria Union Of Journalists,  Edo state council,  Comrade Festus Alenkhe had told the Vice Chancellor that the visit was to identify with her on her laudable achievements in the University so far. 

Alenkhe thanked the cordial relationship existing between the Union and the UNIBEN authority and therefore sued for its sustainance. 

Comrade Alenkhe also identified some completed and ongoing projects in the university and urged the Vice Chancellor not to relent.    

He praised the palliative provided by the University authority for staff of the institution in the wake of the current economic crunch in Nigeria.
