Edo Indigenes Praise Obaseki For Providing Free Transport Services

Following the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, indigenes of Edo State have continued to praised and extolled Governor Godwin Obaseki for providing free transport for all Citizens who ply Edo State Transport Services (ECTS), which is meant to cushion the suffering of the people.
Speaking with some of the beneficiaries , Madam Utinyen Itohan expressed gratitude to Governor Obaseki for the free drive from Benin to Utowor which she said would not have been possible because she was not having money to travel such a distance.
She said," we are planning burial for this period and unfortunately I do not have 4,000 to pay to my destination but this free ride has made it possible for me to travel”
Also commenting, another passenger who identified her names as, Mrs Gloria Omorodion thanked the Governor Godwin Obaseki for the free ride as the money that would have been used for the transportation will now be used to buy food stuffs
“I usually pay 4,000 from Benin to Uzeba and another 4,000 coming back but since three weeks now, I have been entering free transport going and coming back and I think Governor Obaseki is doing us well in this regard and we are grateful”.
More so, passengers who ply the Ekenwan Barrack route also thanked the Governor for the free ride .
According to madam Abigail Omoroge thanked the Governor and further charged him to continue providing free transport for the people as Women are suffering so much from the effect of removal of Subsidy.
Giving her statistic, the Managing Director of Edo City Transport Services, Mrs. Dupe Uhikuai stated that the Transport Agency has been able to carry 706,398 passengers since 11TH September while 14,344 passengers for inter- city travel.
Mrs. Dupe Uhikuai thanked the Governor’s benevolent act on Edo Citizens, as she said, Governor Godwin Obaseki remains the only Governor who is cushioning the effect of fuel subsidy on the day to day lives of Edo People in Nigeria.
However, News alert recalled that, Edo City Transport Service started the free transport scheme since 11th of September 2023 for inter and intra city passengers across the State.
