WellSpring Convocation: VC Says Their Graduating Students  Can Excel In The World

The Vice Chancellor of Wellspring University, Prof. Isaac Rotimi Ajayi FNIP, has asserted that the Senate has presented a total of 116 graduates from two Colleges for the award of first degrees, added that 98 graduated from the Postgraduate School for the award of Postgraduate Diplomas and master's degrees.




Prof. Ayayi's made the statements at the 11th Convocation Order of proceedings for the Award of First and Higer degrees, conferment of the Honorary Degrees and Presentation of Prizes organized by the Wellspring University, Benin city , Edo state.

Prof Isaac Ayayi also urged the graduating students not  to depend on their results that they should try and always update their knowledge that life is full of challenges and struggle.

He said," We are confident that these graduands have worked diligently to earn their certificates in good character and learning, and are deemed worthy to be granted the prestigious degrees of this University. 

"We believe they can  stand shoulder to shoulder with the best  of their peers anywhere in the world.

" These graduands are equipped intellectually . They are also equipped morally and spiritually through their exposure to the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

The analysis of the results of the graduands show that 14(i.e., 12%) came out with First Class, 47 (i.e., 41%) made Second Class Upper Division. While, 44(i.e., 38%) are graduating with Second Class Lower Division. Then, 11(i.e., 9% of the graduands fall into other categories.

" Of special recognition among the graduands is the overall graduating student in the University, Ebenezer Stephanie of the Department of International Relations who graduated in the First Class with a CGPA of 4.84," the VC stressed.

Admonishing the graduating to be a good ambassador of the university, the Chancellor , Pastor Ituah Ighodalo challenged them to be a change makers to the society.

The Chancellor added:" To the graduating students as you receive your degrees after several years of hard work and move into the broader society. You will realize that a university atmosphere is different from that of the outside the world.

" You are highly encouraged  you to join the Alumni Association and contribute your quota to the continued growth of the university by being worthy Alumni. I challenge you to not be complacent about growth but continue to strive towards the mark of a higher calling. 

" Succeeding in all facets of human endeavour requires discipline, leadership skills and character. These attributes form the core of living a fulfilled life; therefore go for them.We have moulded these aspiring change makers into total men and women rich in character, dynamism, and emotional intelligence to withstand unpredictable life events," Pastor Ituah stated.

Addressing the graduating students, the Convocation lecturer, Engr.( Dr.) Ayodele M. Abioye, speaking on a topic entitled:" Career and Life Transitions in the Contemporary World," said, in life there are several aspects that are vital in transitioning from student to a professional.

Engr. Abioye disclosed that the several aspects important to enable transition success toward a professional personality includes amongst others , professional character, communication , reality shock awareness, culture amongst others.

" Our contemporary world offers a plethora of opportunities for career and life transitions . Embracing industrial evolution , aligning with the SDGs, investing in human capital, fostering innovation , and embodying digital leadership can empower individuals to thrive in an era of change.

" By integrating personal transitions with global values. We not only enhance our own lives, but also contribute to the betterment of the society, making our journey through life's transitions both purposeful and rewarding," Dr. Abioye added.

Also, during the Convocation ceremony the Chairman of Channels Media Group and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Channels Television, Mr. John Olatchy Momoh was honored with Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration.

However, before the commencement of the Convocation event properly, the wife of the Edo state governor , Mrs. Betsy Obaseki's commissioned the newly refurbished nursing award of the institution .
