APC Thugs Attack On Journalists: NUJ Suspends  Boycott Of Party Activities Iduozee Efe, Benin Following a letter of 'Unreserved apology" from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State and a letter of commitment to replace all the items belonging of journalists in the state that were damaged when they were attacked on February 17, 2024 during the inconlusive APC primary elections, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has suspended its planned boycott of the party's activities.  This is to allow the party to replace the damaged items on or before March 16, 2024, in line with the commitment the party made to the union The decision to suspend the boycott was taken at a "Special a Congress" of the union held on Tuesday at the union's Press Centre in Benin City. Akpata Now Edo LP Guber Candidate Iduozee Efe, Benin The immediate past national chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the September governorship election in Edo. Akpata, who was a senior partner and the Head of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group at Templars law firm in Nigeria until his resignation on 31 August 2023, won the primary election held in Benin City, the state capital, on Friday. The Deputy Governor of Abia, Ikechukwu Emetu declared Akpata winner of the primary having scored the highest number of votes. Also, declaring Akpata the winner of the exercise, Emetu said Akpata scored 316 votes to defeat his co-contestants in a landslide victory.

Dr.  Azehme  Azena Emerges NNPP Governorship Candidate Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministry, Pastor Azehme Azena has been declared the elected Governorship Candidate of New Nigeria People's Party in the primary election held today at Ugbor, GRA, Benin City, Edo state. Dr. Azena who was formerly a Governorship Aspirant in Labour Party but later defected to New Nigeria People's Party scored 211 Votes to emerge the Flagbearer of the Party. The six persons are Jessica Iguodala Oghomwen, Akpes Omorodion, Chukwudi Akpotowho, Joy Noren, Vincent Uhunmwangho and Blessing Jatto.  The High Court is presided over by Hon. Justice S. M. Shuaibu.
