Shaibu Absconded As Impeachment Notice ls To Be Publish
Iduozee Paul, Benin
Edo State House of Assembly has directed that the impeachment notice served on the State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu be published in the Nigerian observer and other National dailies.
This is Sequel to the refusal of the Deputy Governor to acknowledge the impeachment notice.
But, the deputy governor is not to be found to receive the impeachment notice.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku who stated this at plenary today explained that the action became necessary because the Deputy Governor refused to acknowledge an earlier impeachment notice sent to him through the clerk of the house.
The latest move by the House is to ensure all grounds are explored to adequately serve the impeachment notice to elicit his response within the seven(7) day ultimatum given by the House.
The House received two(2) petitions. The first one is titled "A case of vicious attacks, violent invasions, killings, illegal creations and declaration of an autonomous kingdom, kingship and serial attempts to grab Obazuwa community lands and harness it by the Ijaws in Ovia North East local govt."
The second is titled "Threat by Mr. Osaretin Enoma, the Okaihele of Egbeta community to destroy Mr Omoruyi Ekewe Oveseri Vincent's palm oil plantation and oil mill situated at Egbeta Community in Ovia North East local government in Edo State."
The Speaker referred the petitions to the committee on public petitions and directed the committee to report to the House in two weeks.
The Speaker differed the consideration of the Bill for a Law to repel the Edo State Fisheries Edict,1991, and enact a law to regulate Fisheries and other related matters in Edo State to a later date.
The House plenary was thereafter adjourned to Tuesday 12th March 2024, after an adjournment motion by Hon. Natasha Osawaru and seconded by Hon Asonsere Nicholas
