Edo 2024: We Need A Govt.That Is Accountable To The People--Iduoriyekemwen

The Director General of the Asue Ighodalo Campaign Organization, Rt Hon Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, said what PDP needs now is a government that is accountable to the people of Edo state.



 Rt Hon Matthew Iduoriyekemwen made the assertion when  the team visited the NUJ Press Centre, and welcomed by the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Amb Festus Alenkhe, JP.

Rt Hon Iduoriyekemwen said, "No one can play the role of the media if we actually want to succeed because passing the right messages across and getting the people to understand the messages across is very important and that's where the Journalists play a very important role.

"We don't intend to be misunderstood when carrying out our assignment and we don't also intend that our messages are misconstrued and misrepresented to the very intelligent electorate  that form the voters in Edo State.

"As a starting point, I thought it wise to sit down with the media men in Edo State and have an interaction, especially as there are so many false news plying around.

"These days, in social media, you see all manner of things. They even said that even me, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, that I am contemplating dropping sheath in an assignment that is as important as this. 


"You are just one phone call away. If you cannot reach me, you can reach Rev Olu Martins, Pharez Okpere, Barr Paschal Ugbomhe or any of the Deputy Director General and we will be willing and ready to answer you and let you know the correct position of things.

"We believe that the Asue Ighodalo team is the right team to take Edo State to the next level of progress, institutional building, and institutional reforms. Next level of progress in taking Edo people to her level of pride among the committee of states across Nigeria and for that reason.

" We are committed to it and we want everybody in Edo State to key into it, we want everybody in Edo State to see the man, Asue Ighodalo, look at his antecedents.

"look at his background and look at his experience from where he is coming from and see the advantages of the person who is coming to pilot the affairs of the state beyond the Godwin Obaseki led PDP administration", he said.

Giving the type of governance enjoyed most in Edo State, Rt Hon Iduoriyekemwen said, "Edo State made the most progress when PDP was in charge of the state just as when Nigeria has made the most progress when PDP was at the herm of affairs.

"We need a government that is accountable to the people and that is what the Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie represent to the people of Edo State",  said Iduoriyekemwen.

Responding, the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, said  journalists should be apolitical in reporting their story.
