As the Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), mark its 25 years anniversary, President Bola Amhed Tinubu, GCFR, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (GCFR) and His Excellency, Dr. Good luck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, will graced the occasion.

Disclosing the fact in a World Press Conference and Unveiling of the Anniversary Logo, the Vice- Chancellor, of IUO Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, at the 25th Anniversary,  said the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will served as 'Special Guest of Honour' at the event.

He asserted that the event is a week-long programme which already started with a free medical outreach to Okada communities.


"We are filled with immense joy and gratitude as we mark 25 years of academic excellence, advancing knowledge and creating opportunities. 

"Over the past 25 years, Igbinedion University has evolved into a beacon intellectual repository, a crucible for innovation and nurturing ground for future leaders and game changers, 

" In 1999, history was made with the licensing of the first private university in Nigeria, That university is Igbinedion University, Okada, with registration No.01. By May this year, it will be exactly 25 years since that epochal event. 

"The University achieved this significant milestone throu h the extraordinary vision and mission of the Founder and Proprietor, Sir Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinediun. CON, CFR, Esama of Benin Kingdom. 

"Since inception, the University has achieved remarkable successes in teaching, research, capacity building, innovative studies and perhaps most significantly.

 " The production of exceptional graduates in diverse fields of human endeavour who are contributing their quota to national and global development.

"The growth trajectory witnessed have been driven by a culture of innovation, creativity, adaptability, digital literacy, technological fluency, relentless commitment of the Board of Regents, Governing Council, Senate, staff and students. 

" The attainment of 25 years of corporate existence is a notable landmark worthy of celebration. Thus, the University has planned a grand celebration to commemorate the event," he added.

The VC said IUO was the first private university in Nigeria to produce Medical Doctors' Pharmacy and Law graduates and the first to produce a first class law graduate who repeated the same feat at the Nigerian Law School, and went on to become a professor of Law, Deputy Vice Chancellor of a university, and the youngest Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

Prof. Ezemonye explained that, since the inception of the institution through research and scholarship they embarked on drug manufacturing by the College of Pharmacy.

He stated that Methylated Spirit production by the College of Pharmacy had also be manufactured.

He said," Design and development of EV prototype by the College of Engineering. Design and development of 5OOVA Hybrid Power Station by lUO Creative Hub."


Given the advantages of the IUO, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, PhD, said the university is cosmopolitan in nature, imbibing the principles of diversity, inclusion and equity in staff and students profile.

He said others are; State of the art facilities, incredible digital environment, robust human capital development, a core of dedicated professional staff. 

"We have an unprecedented 24/7 electricity and water supply. Uninterrupted academic calendar of September to June.

"Master Classes and Continuous Professional Development Programme Quadruple Helix Postgraduate Supervision Model," he disclosed.
