Edo 2024: Akpata Promises To Provide Infrastructural Amenities...

The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the 21st September, 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election, Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata has promised to provide infrastructural Amenities if voted as the governor of Edo state.
Barrister Olumide Akpata made the statements at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), secretariat Benin City, Edo state, said agriculture, healthcare, security, good roads, education and conducive environments will be his major priority, if elected as the governor of Edo state.
Barrister Akpata said his government will be physically focus on the welfare of the people stressed that, the slogan of the party which is ‘Papa, Mama and Pikin’ will be trailed to the end.
He said his government will not turn a blank eye to projects earlier embarked upon by his predecessor if they are aimed at the welfare of the people because the money used in executing them belongs to them who are the tax payers.
" My government is going to be an open door policy for everybody. The media is going to have free access to my office if elected as the governor," he added.
The labour party governorship candidate therefore said, he is a proponent of the local government autonomy.
Barr. Akpata said at the moment, the local government councils are strangulated financially due to the absence of local government autonomy adding that while granting them their autonomy, the local government council chairmen and their councilors must remain in their domains.
He added that the roads in the state will be attended to whether federal or state provided it has a direct impact on the people of the state.
The LP candidate stressed that, he believed when the federal roads that have direct impact on the people in the state are fixed, the federal government can reimburse the state instead of allowing the citizens to suffer unnecessarily.
He therefore disclosed that, he will not use the tax payers money for things that will not add value to their lives.
