In a bid to elevate Africa’s science and technology sector, Idiala Africa has partnered with the Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The co-founder of Idiala Africa, Mr. David Dosu, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Press Centre of the Edo NUJ on Thursday.

During the visit, the Idiala Africa team expressed their desire to collaborate with the union to enhance media coverage of their activities and to effectively disseminate information to the public.

Mr. Dosu emphasized the organization’s mission to identify, train, and equip students across Africa, with a goal to position the continent as a leading knowledge frontier in science and technology by 2030.

“We are funded by SALMOSS Foundation, one of the best science foundations in the world. We are sending students from Edo to Switzerland for internships and are also in talks for partnerships with renowned organizations such as Tesla, SpaceX, and OpenAI,” Mr. Dosu stated.

“We are keen on involving journalists in our journey to help us spread awareness about our initiatives.”

Established in December 2023, Idiala Africa has already sponsored two students and aims to support more individuals in the future. Prospective participants must be undergraduates, graduates, or lecturers to be eligible for the programme.

In response, the Chairman of the Edo State NUJ, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, welcomed the Idiala Africa team, acknowledging the transformative impact of science on the world.

Alenkhe also assured the team of the union’s support and collaboration in publicizing their endeavours, highlighting the importance of working hand in hand with journalists to achieve their aims
