PDP Accuses  INEC, Security Agencies For Rigging Poll For APC

Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin

Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  has accused INEC and various security agencies for rigging  elections for the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state.

The party also described the just concluded governorship election, held Saturday , September 21st, 2024 in Edo state, as charade poll conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and frowned at the outcome of the results announced by the Commission.

Expressing his grievance, the Deputy Director-General, Media and Publicity, of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Olu Martins, made the statements while speaking Journalists , in Benin City.

Rev. Martins, said the INEC made the election a must win for the All Progressives Congress (APC) following its actions and inactions.

He accused the electoral umpire and the security agencies most especially the Nigerian Police Force for providing the cover for the massive irregularities that took place at the collation process at the INEC State Collation Centre.

He asserted,“The contestation for us was more of a contestation between the PDP and the security operatives in one hand led by Nigerian Police.

" And the Independent National Electoral Commission. Two of them were in cahoots together to rape democracy."

He stressed that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu body language and comments ahead of the governorship election were not unconnected with the rape of democracy during the September 21st governorship, which he described as fake.

Rev. Olu Martins said the reason why PDP did not congratulate APC is because the Elections was not free, fair and credible. He buttressed that, PDP supporters in Edo and abroad are asking if they will go to court, he stressed that they are still studying the situation.

The Asue/Ogie Campaign Deputy, said that the election was going on free, fair, and credible at the ward level and LGAs until INEC and the security agencies, particularly , the Nigerian Police Force became interested parties in the election when it moved local government collation centre to the INEC State collation office.
