Conference of State Scout Commissioners Accuse Olusoga For Causing Crisis In Association

The Conference of State Scout Commissioners South-South zone, accused Sofolahan and his co-traveler for not heeding to the world body.

 
The Conference of State Scout Commissioners South-South zone, also distanced itself from some of those claiming to be the national leaders of the association.

The  Edo State Scout Commission, Mr. Emmanuel Onosphy Eseine, made the statement in a press conference at the Edo State Scout Council and South-South Conference of State Scout Commissioners in Benin city.

Giving the origin of the fracas, Mr. Eseine Onosphy, said  the National Scout Organization of Nigeria had its headquarters in Lagos, even though the federal capital was moved to Abuja, Lagos has retained prominence in Scouting in Nigeria as the then federal capital, calling the shots in all leadership with several problems to contend with leading to WOSM suspension at a time.


He stressed,"Surprisingly, Mr. Olusoga Sofolahan and his Co-travelers did not give heed to the warnings of WOSM but went ahead to push through their treat for-a-counter AGM. 

"The Federal Ministry of Youth Development which hitherto approved their premises for the venue recalled it immediately they found out that the World Governing Body of the Scout Movement had given warning against holding illegal AGM. 


"This did not stop Soga, and Co, instead, they quickly look for an alternative venue and went ahead to hold their ille-al AGM. Of course, sanction definitely awaits them as , the World body will judiciously look into their insubordination," he posited.


Edo State Scout Commission, further said, the national leadership of the association under Hon. Dave Padopads-Awunah got the majority votes to lead the association for his second tenure at a National Annual General Meeting held in Benin City in 2021.

According to Eseine, said Hon. Awunah is of the North Central of Nigeria and his tenure has brought relative peace, unity and stability to the association and for the first time in the history, the Africa and world leaders of scouting came to Nigeria this year to celebrate and rejoice with them.

Onosphy Eseine  asserted that this feat was a remarkable turn around for the association but that didn't go down well with some power drunk elements in the association who feels that nothing good can be gotten except it comes through Lagos.


He said they came up with frivolous petitions to derail the tenure adding that these unfortunate attacks came from persons like Mr. Olusoga Sofolahan who contested a position into the National Scout Board but failed woefully.

 
Onosphy Eseine alleged that Sofolahan was in the forefront of this un-scouting behaviour.He equally accused Sofolahan and his co-traveler for not heeding to the world body of the association who directed that the proposed counter National Annual General Meeting planned by him not to be held but he still went ahead with it.

He stated that following what is going on in the association which they don't like, they have distanced themselves from him and that the Edo State Scout Council has approached a court of competent jurisdiction and have filled a petition against him.

"The Conference of State Scout Commissioners, South-South zone is here to totally condemn those impostors, impersonators claiming they are today the national leaders of the association.

"We do not have anything to do with them because they operate in total disobedience to the principles, rules, ethics, believe and conduct of scouting.A scout obeys orders-rule No 7. "

Stating how they have adopted the legal means, he explained," Therefore, because we are scouts and the world is looking at us to act in the most modest way in resolving the crisis.

" The Edo State Scout Council has approached a court of competent jurisdiction and file a petition against Mr. Olusoga Sofolahan of Exxon Mobile who wants to take hold of the national leadership of the scout association by force.

"The entire South-South leadership of the association is here today to join their voices to this total rejection of Mr. Olusoga Sofolahan and his gang", he lamented.




However, those who present at the press conference were Hon. Agbagoro Landlord-Lawrence, Delta, Comrade Willie Ineye Austin, Bayelsa and others.Conference of state scout Commissioners hits hard on national leaders, distances self from their activities.
