The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, has inaugurated  three executive committees in the local government areas that would help to mobilise and registered members ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing labour party members  at the party's State Secretariat on Ogbelaka street in Benin City, Hon Ativie, said the urgent assignment that the party has now is mass mobilisation of membership drive and registration.

She explained that the only way to achieve that is through hard work and dedication to their various local government areas.

Hon. Ativie posited,"We have your scorecards at the local government levels, because while you were working, we were watching you. We have returned some of you and some of you were ask to step down.

" When you are a project for hard work, what is the meaning of that? More hard work. So, the National chairman at the federal working committee are urging us to do more hard work.

" So if our level was 70% or 75%, they want us now to do 95% or 100% . The very immediate assignment that we have now that will take us to the next level is mass mobilisation of membership.

" We all know that Edo state, and Nigeria is looking for labour party, because that is the only party  Nigerians are looking up to that would help them to reduce the suffering that is going on in this country.

" Everything in Nigeria has increased. You cannot buy food stuff in the market again. There was one time in this country when we have Operation Feed the Nation. True or false? True, can we still go back to that era? Yes.

" That is the preaching of labour party. There was a time in this country everything was free. Water, food, light and others free. Can we still go back to that era? No. They only party that can achieve that for us is the labour party," Hon. Ativie stated.

The former speaker of Edo State House of Assembly said Nigerians are hungry for labour party. She said if they didn't go out and bring them to the party, the people will not come out.

Hon. Ativie stated that if those that  left the party come out to join them, they should be received back to the party. She disclosed that, they have to let the people know that they have alternative party, which is labour party.

" And I hear that some of our members that are shred away,  some of them are willing to come back. Please when they come to you in your local governments, your wards and units, receive them with your open mind," she buttressed.

Highlight of the event was the inauguration of three local government areas executive committees; they are: Ikpoba Okha, Ovia North East and Egor.

Speaking on how they will carry out their work, the committee chairman of Egor local government area, Hon. Nosa Ekhator, said he would constitute a reconciliation committee that will bring the aggrieved members back to the party.

Hon. Ekhator said they have used to mobilising members before, that is why they are giving the task to do more, and promised the committee will not disappoint the state chairman.
