Constituents Call On EFCC, ICPC To Probe Edo Lawmaker, Imasuen

The people of Edo South Senatorial district have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Commission (ICPC) to probe the lawmaker representing Edo South, Sen. Neda Imasuen for his alleged involvement in a $25 million bank fraud case in United States of America.
They made the call in a press conference in Benin city, Edo state, by the constituents of Edo South Senatorial District and the human rights community on the recall and prosecution of Senator Neda Imasuen to publicly declared his asserts before assuming office and his current assets to ascertain his claims of unexplained wealth and corruption.
Spokesperson of the people, Marxist Kola Edokpayi, said Senator Neda Imasuen tenure in the Nigerian Senate has been marked by failure, corruption, abuse of office, and gross betrayal of public trust.
" We call on the EFCC and ICPC to collaborate with interpol in probing the following: his alleged involvement in a $25 million bank fraud case in the United States of America which led to his abrupt departure from the country.
" The circumstances surrounding his alleged disbandment by the New York State Supreme Court in 2010 for professional misconduct. His alleged suspicious financial activities and unexplained wealth since assuming office.
" No constituency projects, no engagement, no accountability. No town hall meetings since his assumption of office, leaving constituents completely disconnected from governance.
" Edo South faces insecurity and economic hardships while he remains absent and indifferent. We issue a 14 day ultimatum to the relevant authorities. If no action is taken, we will mobilize mass protests , pursue legal action and eacalate our demands nationally and internationally," he added.
The Edo South constituents also signed the recall documents calling on INEC to begin his recall process. At of seven local government areas in Edo South six local government areas signed the petition for his recall back from the Senate.
The local government areas are; Oredo local government area, Kola Edokpayi, Ikpoba-Okha local government area, Caesar Garrick, Ovia South West, Aghatise Raphael, Ovia North East, Okorie Kingsley, for Uhuwonde local government area, Ogbu David and in Egor Local government area is Harrison Orako.
In his reaction, the Senator representing Edo South senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Neda Imasuen, said those planning his recall from the Senate because of his role in the Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's and the Senate President, God'swill Akpabio sexual harassment saga are merely wasting their time.
