Senator Neda Imasuen Empowers Edo South Farmers With Farm Implements

The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Senator Neda Imasuen has appealed to farmers not to sell their farm tools and implements given to them, but make good use of it to enable them sustained their families, and the nation at large.

The federal lawmaker said the essence of the event in his own little way is to reduce the price of food in the market by empowering his constituents of being farmers and producers more food.

He appealed to the farmers to pay proper attention to the various speakers at the programme and ensure they make good use of the knowledge they acquire during the training.

Senator Neda Imasuen gave the advice at a training organised for his constituent members in Benin city, Edo state warned the farmers not to sell the farm implements and tools ensure they make good use of the opportunity.



" This items we are giving you, some time I was told that when farm implements are giving this way, people go to the market and resell them. I hope that will not be the case here. You are to take the full benefits of what we are providing for you today.

" So, is my wish and prayers that God that go with you , and help you with wisdom and understanding to do all that you can do to help us build local government, state and the nation as a whole.

" The programme is very important for me because is a programme in my opinion we use to empower our farmers to do more in what they do in their farms. So, we don't want to do it for one day, doing the programme for two days is to make sure the message get down to the farmers.

" It would also make sure that all that they need to learn about it are given to them. I am satisfied and happy for what I have seen, especially, to the participation of the farmers, and their own way of receiving it.

" Again is my hope that they will utilise the farming implements and insecticides giving to them. So that the farmers can improve and increase their farm yields  all for the betterment of their family, community, state and the nation at large," the lawmaker added.


Given her lecture, the resource person and agribusiness expert, Iretiolu Odi, told the farmers to see their occupation as a business that they can make more profit from.


Odi an AgriBusiness development consultant, let the farmers know that they should see themselves as important that would feed their family and the nation. 

She disclosed that, farmers are the richest people on earth, that they should see what they can add to what the senator had given to them to boost their farming business.


Urging them to look for an avenue to make more profit in agriculture, she appealed to them to make good use of the opportunity to enable their children take over the farming trade from them.

Iretiolu Odi equally commended the Senator Neda Imasuen for empowering his constituents. She gave them some keys to manage their farm, which includes; planning, recording, finance, profit and others knowledge that will be useful to them.

Educating the farmers on how to apply chemical in their crops, Mr. Lekan Salami said farming is the only way we can survive in Nigeria.

 He asserted that, the various chemical given to them has minimum usage required after adding water to it, before they can use it to spray their crops.

He said one of the chemical is to use it to spray the crops to kill the insecticides eating the crops, while the other chemical is to for the use of spraying the weeds to enable the crops grown very well.


 Salami educated them on how many measure of spoon the farmers need to take from the chemical, and add water to it before they can use it in their crops.

The farm implements given to the farmers are; rain-boots, cutlasses, insecticides, sharping files, hand gloves and  hoes.
