Dr. Azemhe Condoles With Kano Governor Over The Death Of 22 Athletes

A Chieftain of the New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP, and Governorship Candidate in the 2024 Edo State Governorship Election, Dr Azemhe Azena, has sent condolences to Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano state governor, and the entire NNPP family in Kano, on the death on Saturday morning of 22 athletes from Kano State who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on their way back from the National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.
The popular politician and renowned Preacher expressed shock at the passing of such young athletes who have done Kano State proud at the games only to be met with such a painful calamity in the midst of celebration.
" The untimely death of these young Nigerians is a painful one and a loss not only to their families and their State but to all of us. Sports, which has been a great source of unity in our Nation has suffered loss with this tragic event also" he said
Dr Azemhe prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead athletes and the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
It will be recalled that a bus carrying about 30 Athletes returning from the national sports festival in Ogun State, plunged off the Chiromawa Bridge on the Kano-Zaria Expressway, a few kilometers to Kano on Saturday morning.
The exact cause is still unknown but sources close to the FRSC suspect "excessive speed and fatigue" after a long overnight trip.
