Edo APC Set To Conduct Primary elections

...As Hon. Idahosa Says Omosede Igbinedion Is Only Aspirant In Ovia

The deputy governor of Edo state, Rtrd Hon. Dennis Idahosa, said the Ovia people have resolved that in the stakeholders meeting they held in Benin city, that Hon. (Barr.) Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion is their only aspirant for Ovia Federal constituency.

Hon. Idahosa made the statements in APC secretariat where a committee set up by the party to conduct the primary elections for Ovia federal constituency  and the Senatorial seat in Edo Central, Benin city, Edo state.

He said for them in the Ovia Federal constituency that they are going there to do affirmation and there will be no election for the primary elections.

According to the deputy governor, said the other aspirants from Ovia have stepped down for Hon. Omosede Igbinedion and they are already working for her to succeed in the election.

"The State Working Committee and the leaders of the party have resolved to have one aspirant. My APC State chairman I want to thank you for providing good leadership. For us in Ovia federal constituency we will be going tomorrow to do affirmation. There will be no primary elections, is just affirmation in Ovia federal constituency. The two LGA chairmen are here also.

"Today, we also have critical stakeholders meeting. And it was well attended and we have resolved that Hon. (Barr.) Omosede Igbinedion is our only candidate in Ovia federal constituency," Hon. Idahosa added.

In his remarks, the Edo State APC chairman, Jarett Emperor Tenebe, thanked the rest aspirants for stepping down for Hon. Omosede Igbinedion and assure them that they will surely be rewarded for their loyalty to the party.

He said the party also adopted Hon. Joseph Ikpea as their only aspirant in Edo central. He said it is the same affirmation process that will take place during the primary elections.

" We are happy that we find ourselves in this beautiful situation in Edo state. The reason is that we have the governor and the deputy governor that is from APC. I am very optimistic that the primary elections that we are going to conduct will follow suit.

" We are happy too for the courage shown by the other aspirants to step down. It is not an easy thing for somebody to buy forms, and at the end of the day and the leadership of the state and party prevail on them to forget their ambitions. 

"So it is not also easy, we use this opportunity to thank all of you, and to let you guys know that the party will not allow you people to work alone. For you to obeyed the leadership of the party and do what you have done, and to make the primary elections seamless for us.

"  We are grateful to you people, we are very sure we would reciprocate when the time comes," he added.

Stating their readiness for the primary elections, the LGA chairman in Edo Central, Ugboaja Stanley Uzoamaka, said assured the party members that the primary elections will be successful.


According to the LGA chairman in Ovia North East, Barr. Lucky Ajokperiniovo, said the leadership of the party has approved a direct primary election.
