A Nigerian landlord has shared how he ended up marrying his once-tenant after enduring repeated mistreatment from his former wife, who often locked him out of their home for returning late.

The revelation was made in a viral post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @tort_walec.

According to him, the decisive moment came in 2017 when his wife once again locked him out. On that night, however, his “beautiful and kind-hearted” female tenant offered him shelter — a gesture that would eventually change his life.> “In 2017, my wife locked me outside, but our beautiful, kind-hearted female tenant opened her door for me.

In short, she’s not a tenant anymore. We now have three children,” he wrote. He further explained that his wife had locked him out on more than 20 occasions, which ultimately pushed him to end the marriage.

“That was the over 20th time,” he added. His post comes in the midst of an ongoing debate on X over whether a wife has the right to lock her husband out of the house for coming home late. The story has since gone viral, sparking a flood of mixed reactions — with some users criticizing his ex-wife’s actions, while others questioned the circumstances that led to his late-night returns.
