Edo Assembly Receives Bill To Establish State Ecological Funding, Management Commission
The Edo State House of Assembly, on resumption of plenary despite its recess, has received correspondence from the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on critical matters affecting the state.
The correspondences, read by the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Yahaya Audu Omogbai, included thirty (30) copies of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission. The proposed law seeks to provide for the mobilisation, allocation, utilisation, monitoring, and management of ecological funds and resources in Edo State, and for related matters.
In his response, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku constituted an Ad Hoc Committee to consider the Bill. The Committee is chaired by the Majority Leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu, with Hon. Friday Aghedo, Hon. Adeh Isibor, Hon. Eric Okaka, and Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian as members.
Also received was a request for the confirmation of Dr. Ehiabhi Odiase as Chairman of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, as well as the nomination of three Commissioners-designate:
Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele
Hon. Christopher Ewere Okaeben
Rt. Hon. Festus Odianosen Ebea
The Speaker directed the correspondence on the nominations to the Committee on Rules, Business, and Government House for consideration and report.
Furthermore, Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku informed Members of the invitation to the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the late Speaker of the 4th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba, scheduled to hold in Benin City on the 9th and 10th of October.
The House thereafter adjourned sitting to Tuesday, 30th September, following a motion moved by Hon. Ojie Eugene Inegbeboh and seconded by Rt. Hon. Osawonyi Atu.
The plenary session was also graced by the presence of a former Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Festus Odianosen Ebea, and a former Minority Leader, Hon. Kenneth Ihensekhien.
