Enabulele Receives Super Falconets Players, Coach Aduku After World Cup Qualifier Victory
The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, on Monday received seven players of Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team, the Super Falconets, and their Head Coach, Moses Opuamowei Aduku, following their qualification triumph in the just-concluded FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifiers.
In a statement issued through his Media Officer, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Hon. Enabulele described the Super Falconets’ victory as both remarkable and a testament to the steady investment in grassroots sports development in Edo State.
“I applaud our Edo ambassadors for making us proud. Their performance justifies the huge investment in grassroots sports, all thanks to our Governor, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo,” Enabulele said.
He commended Coach Aduku, who also doubles as Head Coach of Edo Queens FC, for his leadership and technical ingenuity, while celebrating the seven Edo Queens players — Oscar Precious, Hunu Adeshina, Adegbemile Rebecca, Uzoma Ijeoma, Esther Inyang, Moses Chioma, and Kafayat Mafisere — for distinguishing themselves on the national stage.
“I am confident that with your return, Edo Queens FC will continue to consolidate on winning ways as we prepare for the commencement of the NWFL. With the caliber of players in our team, I believe we are ready to conquer again and attain even greater heights,” he added.
Hon. Enabulele further praised Coach Aduku’s dedication, describing him as a tactician whose track record has been further reinforced with this achievement.
Responding, Coach Aduku expressed appreciation to Hon. Enabulele for his support and pledged continued commitment to building a formidable side.
“Personally, I am ready for the task ahead, and our goal, like you have always emphasized, is to continually win,” Aduku said.
He emphasized discipline as a key value in his team, declaring: “Indiscipline will not be tolerated under any guise. Currently, we don’t have superstars but team players. I will continue to instill discipline, as it is the hallmark of sporting excellence in addition to skill.”
During the qualifiers, the Super Falconets defeated hosts Rwanda 1–0 in Kigali before sealing qualification with a commanding 4–0 win at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, to complete a 5–0 aggregate triumph.
Nigeria will now face Senegal in the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, to be hosted in Poland from September 5 to 27, 2026. The two-legged fixtures are scheduled for February 6 to 26, 2026, with the winner advancing to represent Africa on the global stage alongside 23 other nations.
In a related development, Hon. Enabulele, alongside the team’s General Manager, Mr. Rolandson Odeh, also witnessed the contract renewal signing of Edo Queens forward, Oscar Precious.
