Edo state industrious Para-Weightlifter, Philomena Edomwandagbon has won first gold medal in the competition.

With the feat achieved as the first athlete to win gold, history has been made for Team Edo at the ongoing second edition of the Niger Delta Games, tagged Edo2026, as Philomena Edomwandagbon clinched the very first gold medal for the state in the Para-Weightlifting 67kg category.

However, it would be recalled that her outstanding performance is a testament to resilience, strength, and unwavering determination.

By mounting the podium as champion, she has not only secured a proud moment for Team Edo but has also set the tone for what promises to be an inspiring and successful outing for our athletes at this prestigious regional competition currently taking place in Benin City, Edo State.

Congratulations to our golden champion for this historic victory. Team Edo has truly begun on a winning note — and this is just the beginning.
