Efforts by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to accelerate industrialisation and attract strategic investments to the state have begun to yield results as construction of a 100-megawatt power plant and a 300 metric tonnes per day Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility has commenced at the Taihu Industrial Park in Ologbo Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.

The projects, being developed by Taihu Industry Park Ologbo Company Limited, a subsidiary of the China Clean Energy Technology Company (CCETC) Group, are expected to boost energy supply, power industries and strengthen Edo State’s industrial base.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the projects, which was led by the governor on Monday March 9, 2026, the Managing Director of Taihu Industry Park Ologbo Company Limited, Mr. Jiang Fan, said the investments will support industrial growth, energise communities and contribute significantly to economic development in Edo State.

Jiang Fan disclosed that the projects are expected to be completed within six months.

He said, “We break ground today and tomorrow we will power industries, energize communities and fuel growth. These projects will be completed within six months from today,”

The managing director also expressed appreciation to the Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Hon. Eric Sino Osawaru, for facilitating engagement with the host community and supporting the smooth take-off of the project.

He stated, “We want to express our kind appreciation to the Honourable Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Hon. Eric Sino Osawaru, who has been our torchbearer to the Ologbo community, holding our hands in managing all community issues,”

He also commended the people of Ologbo Community for their cooperation and support, describing them as partners in the success of the project.

According to him, the company is committed to responsible operations, environmental stewardship and meaningful engagement with the host community.

He added, “To the people of Ologbo community, we see you not just as hosts but as partners. We are committed to responsible operations, environmental stewardship and meaningful community engagement. Your cooperation and support are critical to the success of this project,”

Jiang Fan expressed confidence that with the support of the Edo State Government, the local government and the host community, the Taihu Industrial Park will attract more quality investments and gradually develop into a major hub for industrial clustering and economic growth in Edo State.

He noted that the industrial park is expected to contribute to the state’s industrialisation agenda and serve as a model for regional economic development.

He further extended an invitation for the commissioning of the projects scheduled for September 9, 2026, expressing optimism that the projects will bring lasting development to Ologbo community, Edo State and Nigeria.
