President All Campus Show Harps On Education, Collective Responsibility To Curb Corruption

Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin

The President, All Campus Show, Busuyi Ojo-Jobus, said for Nigeria to reduce the rapid of corruption that has eaten deep into the nation economic that it requires collective responsibility and change in our mindset.

He made statements during a  press briefing after presenting a programme tagged:"Nigerians Must Change Campaign, 2026, Not A Fool at 40," at the NUJ press centre in Benin city, Edo state, said to curb corruption in Nigeria we must change our attitude of doing things.

The theme of the event is Embracing Personal Responsibility to Drive Nigeria 's Development, said for Nigeria to be great we all must take responsibility for our actions.

Ojo-Jobus, said in Nigeria today, ,"we often blamed our leaders when things are not moving forward, added that, both the followers and the leaders are the cause of the plight of this nation.

" I joined one Anti corruption group in school, but the people in that group was trying to use me to keep corruption flowing, because I didn't really want that to happen, I became the enemy of many of them.

" Mind you many of these people that were part of this anti corruption platform that time, I have seen most of them accusing those in government for corruption. But they are also corruption even when they are in anti corruption platform.

" The anti corruption platform was established to fight corruption, but the people there were corrupt. That means, the people who tried to stop corruption is corrupt.

" The former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari said something about corruption before he died. He said if Nigerians do not stop corruption, corruption will stop Nigerians.

" I can tell you the truth, corruption is in part or blood of many Nigerians. I don't know where it comes from, may be it comes from our culture and tradition, because some traditions are not balance.

"Nigerians must change, we must stopped pointing accusing fingers to the governments, because if we are pointing accusing fingers to the governments, we are indirectly pointing accusing fingers to ourselves.

" Because according to democracy which is the system of government we are running now, it was defined by the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln, said democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.

" So, if the people is now attacking the government that means; we are attacking ourselves. The only thing for people to do is to take responsibility of the government , we the People are the government because peoples become government," he stressed.

He therefore called for the sensitisation of all Nigerians and also hints on constant education for all Nigerians to curb corruption in the system. He said our common sense and discretion can equally help to reduce corruption.

Contributing, Secretary General, All Campus Show, Umene Aiyedo, said change in mindset, collective responsibility, education to all Nigerians, love and empathy towards one another can also help to reduce incessant corruption in Nigeria.

She said we should also discouraged negative belief about the nation and think positively towards good Nigeria.
