Oba Ewuare II Celebrates Return Of 18 Looted Benin Artefacts ...   Ooni of Ife Denies Conferring Chieftaincy Title On 'Baba Ijesha' By Editor  The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has denied reports circulating on social media alleging that he conferred a chieftaincy title on popular Nollywood actor and comedian, James Olanrewaju, popularly known as Baba Ijesha. This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Mr Moses Olafare. Court Remands Man In Prison Custody For Allegedly Assaulting His Wife  By Editor  A Gambian man, Lamin Badjie, has been remanded in prison for allegedly assaulting his wife and seriously injuring one of her eyes after she served him a meal he didn’t like.  Badjie was arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 2, 2026 where he pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm. The court fined Lamin D100,000 and ordered him to pay an additional D100,000 in compensation to his wife. Edo Police Apprehend 77  Suspects, Rescue 38 Kidnap Victims, Thanks IGP For Support  ...As CP Expresses Appreciation To Law-Abiding Residents Of Edo State The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, on Friday disclosed that a total of 77 suspects were arrested for various criminal offences across the state in June 2026. The suspects include 32 alleged kidnappers, 15 suspected cultists, three suspected armed robbers, 11 murder suspects, two suspects arrested for unlawful possession of firearms, and 14 others linked to rape and other sexual and gender-based violence, including defilement.
