TUESDAY FLAT OUT   OPINION:The Return Of Regent Tinubu: What Next?    By Suyi Ayodele   (Published in the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, October 6, 2026) https://tribuneonlineng.com/the-return-of-tinubu-what-next/   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the Regent of France for almost five days! That was an uncommon feat.   At the end of his regency reign in France, Tinubu came home with what history will preserve for generations yet unborn as ‘American Bubble’. This is because by the time the future generation will be reading the ugly incident of how their President was abandoned in Paris by the host President, the three American companies that our President sold the nation’s mineral resources to would have caused Nigeria an unprecedented disaster.   We shall address that presently. But first, let us visit the insults Tinubu acquired on our behalf when President Emmanuel Macron left his guest in Paris and travelled to New York, United States of Am...

Monday Lines 1 OPINION:Kadara And The Return Of A President  By Lasisi Olagunju  (Published in the Nigerian Tribune on Monday, 5 October, 2026). President Bola Tinubu is a very lucky strongman who has die-hard supporters, even among his victims. One of my friends mounted the rooftop on Tuesday last week and joyfully announced to the president’s critics: “The man you wished would not return is back at his duty post.” He did not end his celebratory message without crowning it with "yegede", the Yoruba triumphant equivalent of “shame on you!” But did Tinubu’s critics really wish him away forever? Whoever wishes the sick dead is not a critic; the person is an enemy in the dark mode of ultra-wicked Fadeyi Oloro. But, the truth is, the president himself is the king who took his orí adé abroad to sleep outside the palace gates, and who only returned, apparently reluctantly, following an uproar. The president finally came back last Tuesday, ending a four-week stay in Euro...

Monday Lines 2 OPINION:Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour’s Yoruba Proverb By Lasisi Olagunju  (Published in the Nigerian Tribune on Monday, 5 October, 2026) A gentleman called Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour wants to be governor of Lagos State. But he cannot speak the language of the land. About four weeks ago, he told Arise TV that he had hired a teacher to teach him Yoruba Language. Àdàgbà kọ ilà, lílé ní í lé. Tribal marks made in adulthood come out as big scars; they confer no beauty; they scare away suitors. That was what happened last week at a town hall event in Lagos when Gbadebo publicly demonstrated his Yoruba Language adult education and bungled everything with a beautiful Yoruba proverb, appropriately chosen but badly rendered. The man wants to govern a Yoruba state. In Yorubaland, realpolitik is inseparable from the politics of language. And this is not peculiar to the South-West. Can anyone who cannot speak Yoruba contest the governorship of this 4th Republic Kwara State and wi...
