Emergency Response Update:  Benin-Lagos Road Tanker Explosion, UBTH CMD Leads Rescue Operation  By Editor  Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) on Thursday deployed immediate emergency services following a fuel tanker explosion on the Benin-Lagos road near the Oluku axis. Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, Chief Medical Director of UBTH, personally coordinated the response team at the accident, emergency, and burns units to treat severe casualties and prevent loss of life.

TROOPS OF 4 BRIGADE NEUTRALISE THREE NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPERS, RESCUE ABDUCTED VICTIM IN AKOKO-EDO Troops of 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under 2 Division, in collaboration with personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, local hunters and forest guards, have neutralised three suspected notorious kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during an intelligence-driven operation at Sasaro Forest in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. The operation, conducted by 195 Battalion (Rear) on 11 October 2026, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers operating within the area. ASUU Shuts Down Taraba State University Over Unpaid Arrears By Editor  The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Taraba State University chapter, has declared a total and indefinite strike over alleged failure of the Taraba State Government to implement its demands on staff remuneration and salary arrears. The union said the industrial action commenced immediately on Monday, October 12, 2026. The ASUU-TSU Chairman, Dr Joshua Garba Mbave, disclosed this in a statement, listing implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU remuneration agreement and payment of outstanding salary arrears as the union’s major demands. According to the statement, said the union is demanding immediate implementation of the remuneration agreement at TSU alongside payment of all accrued arrears from January 2026 to date and full implementation of the agreed remuneration structure.
