Edo 2024: Asue Vows To  Give Youths The Opportunity To Serve

A frontline Edo 2024 Governorship Candidate on the platform of the People Democratic Party, (PDP) Barrr. (Dr) Asue Ighodalo has said, if he is elected as the governor of Edo state, that he is going to improve on education, roads and other Infrastructural amenities that would make life easy and meaningful for the people.


Barr. Asue Ighodalo made the statements during interractive session held with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council at the Union’s secretariat, GRA, Benin City,  Edo state.


 He asserted that his priority is to build on the achievements of past governments that had ruled the state if elected as the flagbearer of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) and subsequent emerged victorious as the next governor of the state come next year election.


He said,“l remain neutral and l would like to appeal to all stakeholders of PDP in the state to bury their hatchet and work together for the success of the party in the state

“I worked with Adam Oshiomhole as governor of the state from 2008 to 2016 likewise Governor Godwin Obaseki, whose tenure ends in next year 2024.”


While describing himself as a bonafide Edo citizen from Ewohimi in Esan South-East local government area of the state, Ighodalo stated that he is nobody’s candidate but one who is desirous to bring his wealth experience of serving as chairman of various companies to bear when he eventually become the next governor the state.

The chairman of Governor Obaseki 7 years Alaghodaro Summit, said he was offering himself for service because of his desire to make Edo strong economically, noting that there were several parts of the economy that can be used to provide for the people and take them out of poverty.

Asue said that Edo State as the heartbeat of the nation should have good infrastructures like good roads, pipe borne water, good hospitals, good schools and many others.

Admitting that it was a tough decision to leave the private sector for politics, he said he was prepared for the rigours of the job which demands integrity.

“I am here to serve Edo people and I can say I am the best man for the job. I hear people saying I am Someone’s candidate but I can tell you that I am nobody’s candidate. All I will do is to bring my wealth of experience to bear having been chairman of several top companies.


“It was tough decision resigning from those position. I’m coming from a comfort zone and you put all of that down to say you want to do things for your people. I have the ability to do things for many more people having done for fewer people in the corporate world.

“All of the experience and connection I have had all over the years would be brought to bear. I am committed and convinced that I can do it. It looks uncertain but even it will be certain in God’s name.

“I pledge to give youths the opportunity to serve in my government because the youths have talents to build the state. Be assured that I am fully committed to the upliftment of our state and I will give my life to ensure that,” he stated.
