Former governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion has been reelected as the President of Edo College Old Boys Association (ECOBA).

Igbinedion emerged as the President for the second time, at the 2024 Delegate Convention/AGM Election held in Benin city, Edo state.

In his speech after the swearing in at the Dinner event, Chief Igbinedion said one of their major focus as a body is to ensure they build the e-library in the first quarter of 2024.




He also advised the Old boys to ensure that they encourage class set meetings and added that henceforth their NEC meetings will start holding from branch to branch.

" I am truly humbled to continue as the President of Ecoba worldwide. Be rest assured that this is a huge responsibility for us, and the privillege will  not be taking for granted.

" It is a huge duty bestow on us knowing fully well  the implications and the responsibility that follows. In the past two years, we started well, and we made tremendous progress. I want to assure you that the next two years will be greater.

" I start to endorse what the 1st Vice President said that the e-library must be a dream to be realized in the first quarter of this 2024. I also want to stand on the suggestion of the idea of encouraging the class set.

" The class sets are very important. There is no exco member or members that does not belong to a class set. So all of us come from class sets, we must give respect to our class sets. We cannot have every member in the NEC.

" One thing that we agreed  in our recent meeting is that NEC is going to be moving from branch to branch. The next NEC meeting  first and second quarters will be in Lagos. The third quarter will be  in Port Harcourt and fourth quarter will be held in  Asaba. Even the Warri branch had booked for the first quarter of next year.






"So on behalf of our exco I want to thank all of us for attending this special convention. I believe the turn out show the level of interest even though some people said the notice was short. Maybe the publicity was short, but the notice was not short.

"What I would suggest is that next time,  let us give  convention enough publicity. Let us also  encourage ourselves and bring your friends to our meetings. 

"We must learn to support ourselves socially. My word of advice is that let us continue to grow, praise and support one another. What encourage an association is when that association show up during any event. 

"When somebody is doing his birthday , please attend. If his wife put to birth and you are invited,  please attend. I was glad when the chairman of Abuja branch mentioned some eminent personalities that have climbed to the top. I was very proud and happy that these people are from Ecoba." He added.


In his remarks, the 1st Vice President of Ecoba, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, said with the permission of the President, they are going to hit the ground running, as far as the e-library is concern.


Engr. Ogbeifun said," Ladies and gentlemen, one of the best thing that have happen to me as a person in life is a privilege to have gone to Edo college. I could not imagine who I am today, good or bad and ugly, if not for Edo college.

"  The kind of life we leave in those days in boarding house brought all of us together to the extent  that we focus so close to our respective identities to every home.

"At a time in the life of the immediate past administration of Ecoba, which I was a party. I had to caution myself because I saw that as a strong passion for the school, and everything about the school, I was almost becoming overbearing.

" But now that I have been brought back to work, I will make sure all our plans as an exco is achieved. I have already talked to our President, with his permission we are going to hit the ground running. As far as the e-library is concerned.

" The e-library is a must and by the grace of God we  are going to complete the e-library within the first quarter of this year. We are going to keep you posted regularly of the progress we are making so that every body can key in.

" We believed that under our president the commissioning of that edifice is going to be an opportunity for us to bring all old boys far and near into Benin to celebrate and give us a new chapter from Ecoba."

Dr. Ruben Osahon, the immediate past President of Ecoba, urged members of Ecoba to ensure they give their support to the newly elected executive.

Dr. Osahon also thanked the past executive for the great work they have rendered for the past two years.

" I want to use this opportunity to congratulate to our newly elected executive. I also thank the old executive for the brilliant work they done and the services they render in the last two years. We all believe that as we heard from the 1st Vice President, Egnr.Ogbeifu they will do greater things in the next two years.

" For the rest of us who are members, they will need our support even as usual. We should also in our own little ways be ready to support the association through our various branches.

" I am so please really that we have been able to put this convention together and the attendance is really impressive. Thanks to the local committee and the national exco," Dr. Osahon posited.

More so, other members of the exco are; Mr. Aigbe Olotu, 2nd Vice President, Justice Eghe Aigbe, General Secretary, Jeff Anotta, the Treasurer, Engr. Elvis Obaseki, the Publicity Secretary and other executive officers.
