LP Caretaker Chairman, Ativie Condemns Attack On Secretariat

...Agrees To Unite Aggrieved Members, Says They Are  Behind Barr. Abure

The Edo State Caretaker Committee Chairman of labour party, Hon. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Ativie has condemned in strong terms the manner of some persons and thugs who invaded the secretariat of the labour party in Abuja.


Hon. Elizabeth Ativie made the assertion at a press briefing when addressing the journalists about the current situation of the party in Benin city, Edo state.

The former speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, said the invaders that attack the LP Secretariat in Abuja  calling for Barri. Abure removal were hired to undermine the party.

"I wish to vehemently and completely condemn in strong terms the attitude of some persons who invaded the Secretariat of the Labour Party in Abuja recently. 

"The invaders were sponsored by some persons who do not wish the party well. Those protesters were hired to undermine the Labour party as they were rented from nearby market in Abuja. 

"Barrister Julius Abure, the National Chairman of Labour Party is a jolly good fellow who has moved the party to an enviable height. 

"Under his leadership in the party, we now have a Governor, National and State Assembly members in the Labour Party. Such person should be well commended and congratulated.

"Those trying to divide the Labour Party should have a rethink and work for the party to move forward in Nigeria. 

"They should give peace a chance and allow the party to win more laurels ahead of any forthcoming election in the county. 

"We, the leaders and members of the Labour party in Edo state headed by my humble self, Rt Hon.  Elizabeth Ativie are strongly behind Barrister Julius Abure, our indefatigable, articulate and vibrant National Chairman," Ativie added.


The former lawmaker also appealed to all members Of the Labour party to rally round their Candidate, Barrister Olumide Akpata towards ensuring his victory in the coming election in Edo state come 21 September, 2024. 


She asserted  that Edo state LP is  fully ready to prosecute the upcoming Governorship election which has Barrister Olumide Akpata as their rightful  Governorship candidate.

 "We hope to emerge victorious in the election. That is our wish now. I hereby appeal to all members Of the Labour party to rally round our Candidate towards ensuring victory in the coming election in Edo state come 21 September, 2024. "

During questions and answers, when asked how she intends to unite the aggrieve members of the party , Hon. Ativie said the body is eager to set up machinery in place that would bring all  LP members together, as one family.

 She said," We have put machinery in place to work on many of our members. Before now many of our members are not participating they  just fold their hands, and they are watching.

" We want to bring them back. By Monday you will hear from us as regards to the machinery we have put in place. Within one month the labour party will be singing a song of unity."

On her comment about the campaign council inaugurated recently, Hon. Ativie said they are not going to dissolve the campaign council, that if they discover that some members are not functioning , the committee will made some change.

She said their aims is to win the governorship seat in Edo state, and added  the masses in Edo  are really behind the labour party to ensure their victory.




" There is no vacuum in governance, and we are going to build on what we meant on ground. We are not going to dissolve the campaign council.

" But in the process, we find anybody in the campaign council that we know he or she does not have the capacity to function. We would get somebody within the party that have the capacity  to replace such person.

" Because labour party wants to win election. By the time we put our house together, everything will be fine. The masses are waiting to see how we can put our house together.

" And that we must do quickly. It is clear the masses are interested in labour party again, so we should not gamble with their confidence." she buttressed.
