The stage is set for the grand finale of the 2024 Governor Douye Diri Pre-season Football Tournament in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital as Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin is set to confront host team Bayelsa Utd for the gold cup. 

The final match is scheduled to kick off at 4PM at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa

Bendel Insurance FC ,on Friday, August 16,2024  strolled into the finals of the 2024 Governor Diri Douye Preseason Football Tournament after recording a goalless draw with Kwara Utd in their last group game. 

Little known Bsyelsa based  Krusaders Feeders made it easy for the Benin Arsenals to win the group after upsetting  Rivers Utd 1-0 in their last group game,. 

A well converted second half penalty by David Weke gave Krusader Feeders the edge over the Pride of Rivers in the keenly contested game at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

Insurance FC won the Group B top spot with five points same as Kwara Utd who will be up against Akwa Utd for the third place of the competition. The Benin Arsenals  recorded a 1-0 victory over Krusaders Feeders in the opening match of the tournament and were forced to a 1-1 draw by Rivers Utd in the second game before the goalless draw with Kwara Utd in their last group match. 

The Benin Arsenals who are participating in the Bayelsa Preseason Football Tournament for the first time will be locking horns with the host team Bayelsa Utd today at the Samson Siasia stadium. Kick off time is 4:00PM while Kwara Utd and Akwa Utd will be engaged in the third place battle, beginning from 2PM.

Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance coach Monday Odigie has expressed his satisfaction with the progress his team has made in the rebuilding process ahead of the 2024/25 season kick off irrespective of the results they have posted in the Bayelsa preseason tournament.
" I think we have realized the aims and objective of this  preseason tournament. The aim is to test how prepared and ready a team is for the league". He emphasized.
