NEDG, BON Express Readiness To Collaborate Edo NUJ On 2024 Guber Debate
 

The Nigeria Election Debate Group, (NEDG) has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to host the 2024 Edo Governorship Debate slated for September 21, 2024 at the Edo NUJ PRESS CENTRE, BENIN CITY.




This was contained in a press statement signed by the Executive Secretary, NEDG Mr. Eddie Emessiri and made available to journalists in Benin City, Edo State.

Emessiri said that NEDG, in partnership with the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), is seeking Edo NUJ collaboration in hosting the 2024 Edo State Gubernatorial Debates as part of their commitment to enhancing democratic engagement and providing the electorate with comprehensive information about candidates’ policies and programmes.


 Emessiri expressed the believe that hosting a well organized debate was crucial to deepen democratic values and good governance in Nigeria

He asserted, “We are in the process of hosting a debate but heard that you had already set up a committee and we do not want to
dissipate energies hosting separate debates to water down the importance of the event”.

The Executive Secretary NEDG who noted that the event would offer the citizens of Edo State a valuable opportunity to assess the various candidates vying for the governorship position, however stressed that the collaboration between the NEDG, BoN, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council will bring numerous benefits to the state and its electorate.


Emessiri said their combined efforts will ensure a well-organized, widely viewed debate that will be broadcast nationwide, offering unparalleled exposure for the candidates and bringing national prominence to Edo State.
