Okpebholo Assures Oba Ewuare ll His Regime Would Respect Traditional Institution

The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has assured Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, UKU Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin that elected government is tenure-bound, but the Benin throne, nestled in eternity remains.

Akpabio made the statements when he led victory-bound Edo State governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Progressives Congress leaders in solidarity visit to Oba Palace, Benin City, while referencing attempts by some state actors to stultify the sacred traditional stool.

According to Akpabio, declared that whoever does not recognize that power is transient, can never be a good leader to his people.

He said,“Tonight is not time for speeches. It’s a night for us to come back from the war front to report ourselves to you that we’ve won”, according to Akpabio who said, “Government come and go, but your Kingdom remains forever

“So, whatever does not recognize that, can never never be a good leader of the people. I say, Government come and go, this Kingdom shall remain forever”.

He informed the first Class traditional ruler that the visit was in fulfilment of the pledge that the Palace will be first place they will visit if Okpebholo wins Edo governorship election when Vice President Kashim Shettima-led APC campaign Council members to his Palace on September 14th.

Speaking to the Oba,  Edo State governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, thanked the Oba and solicited for his prayer that would enable him deliver on his mandate.

He also assured that his administration would respect the traditional institution and take the State to greater heights.

A former Governor of the State and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole described Okpebholo as a man with a good heart and passionate.

Responding, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, thanked the security agents and other Stakeholders deployed for the election towards the peaceful conduct of the poll.

He said, “we thank God Almighty and my ancestors for putting good people where they are supposed to be.

Oba Ewuare ll said, “I want to thank the Benin, the Edo people. I want to thank the opposition for heeding my calls to eschew violence and all the parties for handling everything peacefully”.
