...Commends Their Commitment to Cricket Development in Edo

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, on Thursday received the coaching crew of Edo’s cricket team, led by their Head Coach, Mr. Nemedi Christopher, at his office in Benin City.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Coach/Manager Mr. Theophilus Ibeombe said the meeting was aimed at discussing plans for the construction of a befitting cricket court that would attract international tournaments to Edo State.

They also used the opportunity to introduce three of the coaches who participated in the just-concluded ICC coaching course in Abuja, designed to enhance their performance. The coaches are Marvellous Oyivwi (Under-15 Boys Coach), Afani Abdulhamid Ali (Under-17 Girls Coach), and Ikponmwen Osamudiamen (Under-15 Girls Coach).

Responding, Enabulele said:
"We will continue to support and build on the successes of our cricket team because they have always made us proud and demonstrated the capacity to deliver."

According to him, "Edo cricketers emerged as the best male and female teams at the Gateway Games in Abeokuta, winning an impressive five gold medals out of six. For this, you will always have our 100% support, including at the forthcoming National Youth Games this August in Asaba."

"We equally appreciate Dr. Uyi Akpata, President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation and Chairman of the Edo State Cricket Association, for his steadfast dedication to sports development in Nigeria," Enabulele added.
