Ossiomo Power Is An Indigenous Electricity Firm  By Editor  The Ossiomo Power, an indigenous electricity firm, said it is the rightful owner of critical power infrastructure currently at Ologbo, Edo State. Findings indicate that Ossiomo has held exclusive rights to the gas infrastructure and power facilities since 2008, backed by statutory licences and approvals for power generation and transmission within Edo State. The company is confirmed to be the sole owner of the power generating plant, the transmission network, and associated gas infrastructure tied to the project. According to the Deputy General Manager of the company , Engnr. Francis Ekwe, it is clear that CCETC’s involvement was limited to a contract executed in 2018 for the supply and installation of engines for the Independent Power Project (IPP1).  The contract, however, did not transfer or confer ownership of any facilities to the Chinese firm. Gunmen Abducts 18 Passengers  In Benin-Auchi Highway, 16 Rescued Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin  Wonder they say shall not cease, as at least 18 passengers travelling on the Benin-Auchi highway in Edo State were abducted by gunmen on Friday, 5th 2025. The victims were said to be heading to Abuja in a newly launched Edo Line bus when armed men stopped the vehicle and forced them into the bush. Police operatives later arrived at the scene after the attack. A video from the incident, which has gone viral on social media, showed vehicles lined up on both sides of the highway as panic spread among commuters. Confirming the incident on Saturday, Edo State police spokesperson, Moses Iyamu, said 16 of the kidnapped passengers had been rescued. “Sixteen of these passengers have been rescued safely while the rescue operation by Edo State Police in synergy with vigilantes and hunters continues,” Iyamu said. Kidnappers Kill Eight NSCDC Personnel, Adducts Chinese National In Edo Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin  The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the killing of eight of its personnel and a civilian driver following an ambush in Edo State.  In a statement issued on Saturday, the Corps said the incident occurred on Friday, September 5, 2025, at about 10:30pm along the Okpella–Agenebode area. “The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) regrets to announce the unfortunate incident that occurred on Friday, 5th September 2025, at about 2230hrs, along the Okpella–Agenebode axis, Edo State.” According to the statement, “Armed men laid an ambush on the convoy of a Chinese national from BUA Cement Company, Okpella, leading to the tragic death of eight (8) NSCDC personnel attached to the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) Department, alongside one civilian driver. NDLEA Arrests 26 Suspected Drug Traffickers In Edo   Iduozee Efe Paul, Benin  The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 26 suspected drug traffickers, with a total of 41,410.53 kilogrammes of various narcotic drugs taken out of illicit circulation. The State Commander of the Agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju, who disclosed this in Benin on Friday, while presenting the August 2025 progress report, noted that the command intensified operations, leading to numerous arrests, significant drug seizures, destruction of cannabis farms and crucial anti-drug abuse initiatives. “The achievements were remarkable and underscored our proactive approach towards curbing drug-related crimes in Edo. The 26 persons apprehended comprise 22 males and four females. Total drugs seized is 41,410.53 kilogrammes, and the breakdown revealed that cannabis accounted for over 99 per cent of the seized drugs with 41,387.36 kilogrammes,” he stated. Ofoyeju...
