Federal Court Calls For Arrest Of INEC Boss, Yakubu ... Criticizes INEC For Its Inconsistent Recognition Of Udeze By Editor  The Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu, for failing to comply with a previous court order. According to Daily Sun, the order stems from a dispute involving the Action Alliance (AA) and INEC over the recognition of party leaders. The court, presided over by Justice Funmilola Demi-Ajayi, found that Yakubu and INEC disobeyed an earlier judgment requiring the commission to recognize all state chairmen elected under Adekunle Rufai Omoaje’s leadership of AA’s National Executive Committee (NEC). Justice F. E. Messiri delivered the judgment on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Yilkan, from Nguru in Yobe State, was arraigned by the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Directorate in October 2023 alongside one Mohammed Adamu. He was charged with obtaining money under false pretence, contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006, and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.
